How does the FIMA Home Program work?
Food Equality Initiative (FEI) subsidizes a direct-to-door grocery delivery service for qualified clients through our Food Is Medicine Access - Home Program (FIMA Home).
2024 Qualifications:
Screen positive for food insecurity
Require food as medicine
Reside in Jackson (MO), Johnson (KS), or Wyandotte (KS) counties and/or referred by an FEI partner.
Through connecting people to community resources and subsidizing direct-to-door delivery service, we aim to ease the financial and psychological strain of a diagnosis of a diet-treated illness on individuals and families. We strive to nurture a community where everyone has access to the foods they need.
No matter where you are in your journey, recently diagnosed or a special-diet veteran, FEI is here to help. Here is the path to follow to qualify for receiving services.

A diet-treated illness is a diagnosed condition where the avoidance or addition of certain foods play a significant role in treatment. This includes conditions such as food allergies, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, IBS, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.

Financial Qualifications
Food Insecurity Screening Statements:
Within the past 12 months, we were worried whether our food would run out before we got money to buy more.
Within the past 12 months, the food we bought just didn’t last and we didn’t have money to get more.

Once you (the prospective client) complete the Service Application Form, FEI works to approve your application. Your length of service from FEI is determined by funding, but will not exceed 12 consecutive months.
In 2024, FEI is primarily serving those in Jackson county Missouri and Johnson and Wyandotte counties Kansas.
If you do not qualify for subsidized service, we will contact you with more information about our other programs.

After enrolled in FEI’s Food is Medicine Access Home program (FIMH), you will have groceries delivered to your home.
